Saarland’s night owls come out to play
Festo opens its doors for Long Night of Industry event
On 6 October 2016 at 17:30 on the dot, Festo opened the plant doors at its St. Ingbert location to celebrate its Long Night of Industry event. The evening welcomed no fewer than 100 guests, all of whom were keen to discover more
So what does Festo actually produce and what activities take place at this location? Visitors enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of our production areas complete with state-of-the-art assembly lines. ‘Every year we fascinate our visitors with showcases including demonstrations of our automatic high-bay warehouse and this event was no exception,’ notes Dirk Oberinger, who is in charge of quantity production planning and optimisation and who, together with his colleagues, has been responsible for the tours on this evening for years.
As for our younger visitors aged 18 and upwards, our training workshop in the Festo Learning Centre offered an insight into the company’s traineeships.
From production to logistics
One of our visitors, Thomas Becker, had this to say: ‘This was my first time at the Long Night of Industry and I’ve been so impressed with Festo from start to finish. The opportunity to take a peek behind the scenes – particularly in the production area – really is exciting and it’s an experience I’d definitely recommend.’
This is now the sixth time that the Long Night of Industry has taken place in Saarland and Festo has been involved right from the start. The company is now already looking forward to next year, when it hopes to welcome many more industry enthusiasts through its doors.
